Two-phase: Gemini first reads a strategic sample (top-SV head + random tail) in a single call to design the full taxonomy — 5–12 groups with initial canonicals and variations. Then it chunks through every remaining query in chunks of 300with the group list LOCKED, adding canonicals and variations that fit the existing groups. Progress is saved server-side after every chunk, so refreshing the page resumes where the run left off.
